Charles Sebastian Theodore Sheppard & Elsie Mable Gomez were united in Marriage in the U. P. Church St. Anns Road on the 20th January 1909.
Laura Clark (ID 25) says that Elsie died on the day that U.S. President Eisenhower died. That’s almost correct, he died on March 28 1969.
Buried at Lapeyrouse Cemetery in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Valerie Sheppard (ID 1547) visited this cemetery on November 12 2007 and took photos.
The grave of Charles and Elsie is still there. Headstone says that Elsie was born on May 26 1888 and died on April 2 1969.
Valerie:
“In the register of the Lapeyrouse Cemetery I discovered that the Sheppard grave site was first used for the burial of ALFRED SHEPPARD in 1910. I copied the handwritten entry in the cemetery register. . . I wanted to take a photo but it was not allowed.
I found it interesting that Charles Sheppard's sister Amalia was buried in the Sheppard grave plot with her brother, instead of in the Mendes grave plot with her husband's family”.
The wedding was held at the corner of Shine Street & Park Street on Victoria Square, Port of Spain, home of Mr. Albert Mendes, Elsie Gomez' Godfather. Valerie and I took a photo of the same house on October 20th 2012.
