This Hero was the son of Hero Bratt (1836 - 1896) and Albertha Hendricks Gortworst (1850 - 1903).He had 10 siblings and one half-sibling.Hero Bratt (1836-1896) was born in Broek, Waterland, Noord-Holland, Netherlands and came to America in 1876, aboard the Rotterdam,with his wife Albertha (married 12 Apr 1876 in Zaandam, Zaanstad, Noord-Holland, Netherlands)and her daughter from her previous marriage, 3-year old Eva Verschuiling.(There's a bit of a story about how Hero and wife Albertha got together, I can give you the details if this is who you are looking for).They settled in the County of Ottawa in Michigan and by the 1880 Census are living in Olive, Ottawa, Michigan.The family later is found in Allegan County, Michigan which is where Hero died in 1896.His wife Albertha (Gortworst) remarried in 1897 to Gerhardus Holmer. When she died in 1903 she was livig in Ottawa, Michigan.Albertha is buried at the North Holland Cemetery in Michigan.
