Sebastian (Sebastião) de Freitas is one of the most interesting of our ancestors. I noted several years ago from information I had obtained from Joanne Ferreira's books indicating that Sebastião had arrived in Trinidad with his family in 1846. His father was António F. de Freitas (1792-1852) and his mother was Maria de Jesus d'Abreu (1814-?). They continued on to the US on, I believe, the Trowbridge. I have to seek out these records. Sebastian came back to Trinidad and I have no other records other than a comment in one of Joanne's books citing his generosity in the funding of St. Ann's Church of Scotland. I will have to try to find the documents.
Sebastien De Freitas died on 24th February 1916.
