According to Sybil Sheppard (ID 1534), Antoinette and her husband eloped to Madeira and later went to Trinidad for adventure.

Don Pedro del Rey of Lisbon had a daughter who married a Scotsman of lower social standing - they said it was the gardener. Because of this, her father disowned her and she went to the island of Madeira. Hence the British surname of Alexander originated. She and Alexander had a daughter called Antoinette Alexander who married John Pereira. They had five children, one of whom was Christine Pereira who married Joseph Gomez.
